Meadow...

We have been watching things get lush all around us.... Here is a shot of our place from the top of the meadow, that's Emmett our neighbors dog, and a Washington Hawthorn that my Uncle Brooks gave me via ArborDay.Org
the Meadow is going crazy with wild strawberries coming up...

This morning I walked up the road to feed our neighbors dog emmett, and there was a luna moth warning itself in the morning sun on the side of the house. I love their coloration, they are rasberry celedon and gold, so perfect, and with two sets of eyes on their backs!
This is the second time this week I've held some amazing creature in my hand. earlier this week I went into the shop to start my day and found a finch, bright citron and lemon yellow with grey wings, struggling against a window. I managed to sneak up to it and grab it (I forced myself somehow not to flinch when it startled...I knew I'd lose it if I did). It was suffering from the heat, and would close it's eyes occasionally, and just pant, and that's when I grabbed it. I took it outside where it perched on my hand and revived. It seemed not at all startled by being so close to me, and even cleaned itself, and let me stroke it. I checked to see that it was unhurt, and after 5 min (!!!!) of holding this wild bird I set it down in the grass and went to work. I've since seen many in the meadow, and today Charlie saw a scarlet tananger.

I have to say quite frankly that It's a bit of a chore after such a wealth of color from my immediate surroundings to post pictures of my work, but I wrote my mailing list that I would!!! So while this really can't compete, at least you can enjoy my influences and share in my hubris...
