Workin it:

Its an interesting state of affairs for someone as impatient as myself to find themselves thinking of something that has taken them 3.5 days to complete has gone "quickly".
I'm perplexed but also determined, as the above results have in the past taken years (I'm so slow I put the piece down and don't finish it). The furnace is down for maintenance at the moment so I can spend all sorts of time wrapping up the myriad of engraving projects I've started. Lathe work like this involves standing for extended periods of time in front of a lathe in the same position. My back and neck make incredible crunching and cracking noises afterward as my joints release all their pent up frustrations after being so confined. Friends and relative wince, I smile. Beer (a natural anti-inflammatory agent!) comes to my rescue at about 4. (It's true people! hops are pure magic)....I'm LOVING my ipod, and all the podcasts I've downloaded. Lifesaver!!! I also spend copious amounts of time developing my shopping list for his glass works. It had been brewing for some time already when I got a really wonderful order for my clear cups. Now I know I need to do some shopping! (baby needs wheels).
Very exciting things (slowly) percolating here. I'm suddenly in LOVE with the color apricot. This piece above is a great apricot color, and I'll do more in this range when the shop is up and running again. The process above is called "battuto" (hail Carlo Scarpa architect and inventor of the pattern while designing for Veninni). I love leaving a little window open so you can see into the honeycomb pattern.
